The article deals with core principles of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its particularities in European business environment. In order to explain how CSR has developed over time, the evolution of CSR thought is outlined. The main breakthrough in CSR thought was brought about by European authors who joined the discussion on the nature of CSR with different foundations. There still exist noticeable differences in understanding CSR. Therefore it is important to explain how emerged and define CSR in European business environment. The article later on explains the necessity of establishing the basic requirements on the corporations´ behavior and introduces the Integrative model of CSR.
