19. HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN KNOWLEDGE ECONOMY

ABSTACT:

The necessity of organizations to succeed in the knowledge economy force them to aim at the employees as the knowledge carriers. Knowledge, on the assumption that they will be appropriately used, may become a competitive advantage for an organization in the knowledge economy. In endeavor to use the potential of human resources in the most effective way whereas emphasizing on using the knowledge, the role of human resource management in an organization grows and change. Managers should realize that tasks connected with human resource management, are performed by each of them and that changes in human resource management also means changes in managerial roles. Therefore traditional approach where managers exercise no leadership but only position power will be no more sufficient. New roles of managers arising from changed role of human resource management as – human capital steward, knowledge facilitator, relationship builder and rapid deployment specialist – could be a guideline for managers that could show them how to manage an effective usage of human resource in organization in the perspective of conditions of the knowledge economy.
